Wingman IT Technician Bob BennettMeet Bob “Archer” Bennett, a seasoned IT professional and valued member of the Wingman IT Services team since 2018. Bob’s journey into the world of technology began early when his parents bought him an Amiga computer in 1985. After breaking the expensive $3,000 machine, his parents made him fix it, igniting a lifelong passion for IT.

Born in Texas, Bob’s parents’ Air Force careers had the family moving frequently, even landing them in Okinawa Japan at one point before settling in Nebraska. His global upbringing influenced Bob’s hobbies and interests, which include cooking a variety of international dishes -especially Asian cuisine like Thai, Indian, and Chinese.

Bob’s IT career kicked off in 1998 with a large corporate project to replace all Windows 3.1 machines with Windows 95. He also played a critical role in the Y2K crisis, updating COBOL systems in changing two-digit dates to four-digit ones.

When he’s not working or cooking, Bob enjoys listening to detective and mystery audiobooks, with Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files and Brandon Sanderson’s works being amongst his favorites. He’s also an avid video gamer, diving into the challenging worlds of the Dark Souls series and other FromSoftware titles. Bob’s love of games goes beyond the screen to table top games including Res Arcana, Zombicide, Clank!, Dice Forge, Mansions of Madness, Ticket to Ride, Gloomhaven, Scythe, and Wingspan. You can also find him Sundays gathering with friends to play Dungeons and Dragons.

Next time you talk to Bob, be sure to ask him about his latest cooking adventure, favorite detective stories, or his thoughts on the latest board game or video game he’s tackled.
